    I can’t speak on the world

    Because I haven’t seen the world

    Just pixels of what was

    What is is what was

    What is is what was

    The pale imitation

    Grew clearer and clearer

    ‘Til the sharpness gouged my eyes,

    Slashed my chest,

    And swept me off my feet

    I stumbled dazed,

    But days passed by

    And slowly, slowly, slowly, slowly

    I began to heal

    My tongue now tastes of metal

    And my left-side skin is dead

    The colors are like lightning

    Neon seas of lightning

    Hope descends in morning clouds

    Flowing over ridgelines

    Too precious to touch down

    Suspended. Dispersed.

    Disseminated by light

    Dictated by God

    Prismatic phantoms

    Osmosistic wonder

    Clarity proceeds the clearing of the skies

    Sunrise holds darkness at bay

    Illuminating blessings and troubles

    A sickeningly, beautiful, damnable cavalcade

    How is “have” measured?

    By we the afterbirth of thoughts made unaware?

    “Hads” abound

    Supposes. Supposes.

    Still the intoxicating sound of “have”

    Elicits endless “what”

    Solely gyroscopic intervention

    Can lay the balance scales to rest

    There was a dot that became a line

    The line became a shape

    The shape stretched, overlapped; gave itself a name

    He chose Jack

    Mainly because he thought he’d remember that

    So off Jack went into the world

    Never looking back

    Not for determination

    Just wasn’t anything to be seen

    Behind him. Lines.

    The horizon

    A line that extended to forever

    Forever was far away.

    He walked ‘til deep lines appeared on his face

    And grew down from it

    Long since gray.

    Walk became waddle with cane.

    Lines unraveled through persistent travel

    He joined the ground

    A dot once more

    Shaker leaves syncopate with my steps

    The band is pouring down

    It’s in full swing

JS Streible was born in the blacktop bosom of Atlanta, Georgia. He’d only just caught his breath and started getting his bearings before he was adopted and swept to be raised in the temperate rainforest of the Southern Appalachians. The environmental crucible led to his unique artistic voice and perspective. He still calls the region his home.
